Musings Musings Update on “Meditation” CD
About a month ago, Rob, my recording engineer, and I, went to Rob’s dad’s lakehouse on Lake Louise, a small private secluded lake in East Texas. We did some recording out there. After a ride for an hour or so at night around the lake in a small fishing boat with one of those quiet electric “trolling” motors, listening to the night sounds, the crickets, and seeing all the stars, I was inspired to come back to the house and play an improvised piece of musical chant. I titled it “Nightingale”.
I have two versions, which I have just edited. One is just violin by itself, very haunting, with a lovely ambient reverb. The other version still has the ambient reverb, but also has the night cricket environmental sounds in the background. We recorded those cricket sounds that night, but just sticking the microphone up against the screen window of the house and hitting “record”! It was a dense, summer lake and forest sound. I can’t decide which one I like better.
You can hear both versions of “Nightingale” at my Tagworld Violin Romance page. They are the second and third tracks on my music player there. If you do go there and listen, let me know which version you like better. I am think the music is hauntingly beautiful.
HOWEVER, In about 24 hours, both versions will be available on my snocap.com music store One version will be called “Nightingale”. The other version will be called “Nightingale with crickets”. I believe you can hear 30 seconds of each version.
I recorded another 4 songs out there. They have not been edited or mastered yet.
